Watching football in the south
Watching football in south Georgia is an experience steeped in tradition, excitement, and communal spirit. We watch high school football on Friday nights, and college and NFL throughout the weekend. The local pride and passion for the game is unmistakable and there are several great locations on St Simons Island, Georgia to watch the weekend football games and enjoy some great food.
Our favorite locations to watch the game
One of our favorite locations to watch the game is Brogens South or Brogens North. Both are located on St Simons Island. As their names state – one on the south side in the Village, and one restaurant is located mid-island, or the north side of St Simons. For over thirty years, Brogen’s has been serving up a laid-back atmosphere alongside of their burgers, wings, and sandwiches. There are plenty of TV’s around for easy viewing of the football game and plenty of fans to cheer on the teams.
Another great place to watch the game is Live Oak Tavern. Located on Demere Road on St Simons Island, Live Oak Tavern serves burgers, salads, pizza, and gameday appetizers. Fans can watch football Thursday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays at Live Oak Tavern.
Gnat’s Landing located in Redfern Village is a perfect location to watch the latest football game. There is covered outdoor seating as well as indoor seating and plenty of TVs to watch the game on. While you enjoy the game, feast on BBQ, salads, wings, and our personal favorite – fried pickles!
Watch the game at a vacation rental
If you are looking for a more private setting to enjoy the game, Georgia Coast Realty has plenty of condos, cottages, and homes where your entire crew can gather and watch the game. Some of our favorite locations for a larger crowd to gather are 621 May Joe, 7 Coast Cottage, 4206 Eighth Street, or 519 Bartow Street. If you have a more intimate gathering, a condo might be the right choice. King and Prince Villas, 314 Mallery Street, and Demere Landing are all great options. If you are looking to have your furry best friend join you, Georgia Coast Realty also has some great pet-friendly vacation rentals available such as 409 Beach Drive, 312 Broadway, and 4210 Twelfth Street.
